WECAN rely on generous funders and grants to ensure we can offer our exclusive support services to those who need them most. Although many of our individuals receive a Direct Payment, not everyone has that luxury. The funds we receive from the local council only cover the hours of support. We pay our team for the handover before and after the session as communication with families is vital.
We try to accommodate as many children, young people and adults as possible, keeping in line with staffing levels for safety and support. This ensures those with disabilities and complex additional needs are included and have the opportunity to participate in leisure activities with their peers. This builds confidence and resilience, we do not see disability as a barrier.
All of the activities we participate in, are funded internally. We generate our own funds through fundraising and events and also have generous support from donors who know and trust us for the high standard of care we provide.
We have teamed up with many well-known retailers and funding bodies who have continued their support to make our charity last for 30 years, this in itself is quite an achievement. We are now at a time when there are more charities who need support and less funding to go around.
