Wecan are the Data Controller for the purposes of the Data Protection Act and as such, collect information from you and may receive information about your child/young adult from other professionals. We hold this personal data and use it to:

  • Support your social activities
  • Monitor and report on your progress
  • Provide appropriate care

This information includes your contact details, attendance information and personal characteristics such as your ethnic group, special educational needs and any relevant medical information. We will not give information about you to anyone outside of Wecan without your consent unless the law and our rules allow us to.

We are required by law to pass some of your information to the Local Authority. In addition for Wecan as you are no doubt aware, due to the nature of the support we carry out, many professionals may also be privy to some information about your child eg, Medical professionals, Therapists, Social Services

Any information shared with professionals such as the above, will be:

  • Fairly and lawfully processed Processed for limited purposes Adequate, relevant and not excessive
  • Accurate
  • Not kept for longer than is necessary
  • Processed in line with the rights of the subject of the data
  • Secure
